  • Category

    Refurbishments, Renovation

In 2009, Smiths of Derbyshire the clock specialists were contracted to carry out works to the clock when it was noticed that some of the timbers were rotten. A survey concluded the whole timber tower was in need of attention. It had to be taken down for health and safety reasons and capped off with a ply and felt roof. In 2011 a new Oak Clock tower was manufactured with a new copper spire then craned back into place on top of the Town Hall. Smiths the clock specialists then returned and carried out the works to the clock.
